Good Laptop, for the price it's great
This is a solid laptop, tuners hold nicely, solid bridge, etc. It even came with tuning intact (I can't remember what it was tuned to however). Right away I swapped out for a better, noise-canceling single coil pickup as the installed one is not good. The tone is good on it however, it's just noisy like an old strat pickup. The bridge spacing is a little tight, like a guitar (as it uses what looks like a standard strat-style bridge) but I've gotten used to that. I removed the volume and tone controls to allow me to position my hand a little better, it gets crowded around the bridge when playing. Overall it's been a solid workhorse, definitely a good value.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Be prepared to do some work on it.
Decent starter lap steel. Good sound. Quality control and fit/finish lacking. Cheap plastic nut was binding - needed significant work to achieve stable tuning, but material is still too soft - wears quickly and deadens tone. Tuners were improperly installed requiring reworking of the headstock to keep strings from contacting the wood. Never should have left the factory like that. Output jack could be repositioned, or include a right-angle cable. You get what you pay for. Be prepared to do some work to make it playable.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

New sound nice price
This Rouge lap steel is a blast! Its fairly well made and the bag and adjustable legs are great extras. This is a real nice beginner lap steel guitar and would work as pro player. The pickup is a little weak and I am going to replace it but it is adequate depending on your likes. You need to know Roman numerals as thats how scale is notated.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

My 2nd lap steel.
I wanted to learn C6 tuning and this was the best way. Good looking instrument with all the right accessories to get you started, gig bag, 3 adjustable legs etc. I upgraded the pickup to a Kent Armstrong dual blade mini humbucker. A good value for the price.
The RLS-1 is a very good beginner lap steel. It is easy to set up with the provided stand legs. The tone quality is very good for the price range. I would recommend that once you receive it that you install a better set of strings.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

After upgrades it's amazing!
The pickup that came with it had a serious noise issue. Not the normal hum you get from a single coil pickup, but more like a poorly potted and poorly ground pickup. I printed a new pick guard with my 3d printer so I could upgrade to a humbucker. After the upgrade it sounds so much better!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Well made, great value.
Well made. Included strings, just didn't say what tuning, so I used C6 and worked just fine. The legs fit into the guitar well. I don't recommend cleaning the paint off the threads as this helps to lock the legs in place. Easily adjusted for height and holds setting. Fun and easy to play, great instrument to learn on. A deal at twice the price
Simply amazed. Truthfully I bought it because it was the cheapest and I wanted to learn. I asked some pros to play it and they were impressed. It's solid, well made, holds it's tune. The pick ups that usually come in economy stuff are usually noisy and "thin" sounding. NOT this one, Quality sound, no buzz or squeal. The legs are also solid and well made. EXCELLENT DEAL
This is my first lap steel guitar. I really don't know much about them or how to play one. I wanted to learn but didn't want to spend a fortune on one. This steel guitar was a great deal. Perfect for Me
I’ve wanted a lap steel since I was in high school. Many years later, I ran across this one. It was a great deal, so I bought it. I couldn’t be happier. Am taking baby steps toward learning how to play. It’s an entry-level instrument for sure, but I wouldn’t be embarrassed to be seen with it. I’d be far more embarrassed by my lack of ability.
