good bit of kit
a lad at my allotment had a sifter and it made a brilliant job of making a good job of breaking the soil into fine powder, so I got 1 you have to use semi dry soil wet clay types are not good so I just let it dry out a bit. the unit is very easy to build, the only thing I could comment on for improvement is the knob, you can only turn the handle in 1 direction as if you got the opposite way the knob un-screws and comes of in ya hand lol I always got told it would come off in ma hand if I kept playing with it lol, but the unit is very good and im sure I will be using it for some time.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Simple and effective
Fine quality sieved soil / compost. It will be interesting to see how long the mesh lasts, and unfortunately the design prohibits fitting a replacement. It doesnt like the soil / compost being to wet. Far better than sieving by hand, as I had been for years!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Sifter for finer earth

Works but it is hard work.
Stupid design fault with the handle-knob. If you rotate clockwise, the threaded handle unscrews itself. 100 years ago they knew this when they designed starting handles But hay ho.it does the job IF the compost is dry.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

One of my favourite garden tools.
I have two of these myself, one for regular use in the garden and another I use with composting demos (I teach people how to compost more/better) so I bought this one for a friend as a present.
