I am a triathlete so run, cycle and swim a lot. My previous GPS watch had died and started looking for something basic and simple. The reviews and features all pointed me to the Garmin 935XT and my daughter has a 735XT that she is very impressed with. I would have chosen the 735 except for the battery life - some of my events are well over 12 hours and with GPS recording the 735 is marginal. So I went for the 935XT and have had it for 10 days. First impressions are WOW! Despite having loads of features it is straightforward to use and I hardly needed to read the manual (does anyone read these). It produces a huge array of stats on runs and rides - really impressed with those. It even counts lengths in a pool spot on without any hassle. As a bonus it also counts steps, heart rate and activity and sleep. These were not things I chose it for but are really interesting and might be useful. The sleep analysis is certainly very revealing and seems to accurately pick up details. Not yet had a long event so not sure about battery life. In normal mixed use (training most days for an hour or so and wearing it 24 hours a day) I needed to charge it after 6 - 7 days. Promising. The integration with the smartphone app is brilliant - it syncs without any user intervention and the amount of information is staggering. The information is very well presented and easy to navigate. I like being able to download my data as CSV files so I can carry out my own specialised analysis too. The size and weight make the device very comfortable even for wearing 24 hours a day. You can conclude that I am very happy with the features and performance so far. A key test for me is whether the battery will last for a 15 hour event and if it proves reliable in everyday use for a few years. I did think the cost was high but so far I can see the features and thoroughness of the design justify that. A high end athletes watch for sure but a very useful one.Read full review

It is an excellent watch for triathlons, running, cycling etc with fantastic monitoring and diagnostics. One aspect that could be improved is the clarity of the display, not as vivid as some other brands. The 935 does not have the facility to store music ....the upgraded 945 model has this feature.

As a long time Suunto user I was a bit skeptical about moving to Garmin, mainly since I always liked the Suunto build quality and the great app. So After a month of using my new Garmin 935 for all my triathlon training I can honestly say it was so worth the waiting! It is super lightweight on the hand you barely feel it and the is so many features to it Just blows my mind! Definitely recommended to all athletes amateur or professional!

Garmin 935 can l justify paying this much for a watch. I have to admit l took my time to buy it. Asking questions to myself, can l justify paying so much for a watch that l would use to count my lengths when swimming. Should l have a Apple Watch, should have a Fitbit and the list goes on. Well in the end l went for it and l have to admit l am very pleased that l have bought it. It’s a cracking piece of kit, coping with my swimming, l can now enjoy my swim rather than having to concentrate on how many lengths l have done. You can also use the drill log to include your kicking lengths or other lengths when you are not doing a proper stroke in your total distance. I must admit the step counter is very good and motivating, as is the ability to use it for walking, running and many other sports. The Garmin interface is very good to review your activities, it can be temperamental at times. You can receive weekly reports if you so wish and they can be quite interesting. So, yes l would say go for it, it can be a bit of a learning curve , but if you can get a deal on it as l did the better. I also bought a screen saver as well which is very good and would recommend to give your screen face protection. Finally, l have found that the battery life is very good, l would say l get about a weeks worth, but the charging is very quick. I set up some of my details on my computer with the lead that comes with the watch and use my iPad to upload my information via Bluetooth which is very quick and automatic once linked. For people with type two diabetes the watch also links to MyDesmond. You can change the watch face look etc. In the Garmin app. If you can find someone who already has one the better, have a chat and see if you can get on with it and additional chat to people who have an Apple or Fitbit etc. To see what they use it for and if that fits with how you would use it. I am very happy with mine, so much so l bought hubby one as well. Read full review
