Looks and behaves like a quality item; I like it already!
I was unsure about the Alpine ILX-F903D - I liked the idea of a large screen but I'd never used a remote sat nav via Android Auto and I was dubious about the rigidity of the mountings for such a large screen. Having taken advice from the seller, I went ahead and bought it. As I was about to go on holiday, I didn't have long to get my head around the controls but it turned out to be quite intuitive. I have now just completed a 1700 mile driving holiday in my Fiat Ducato based motorhome and the screen stayed rock steady throughout the trip and the sat nav, coupled to my Cubot X16S smartphone through Android Auto, never dropped out once although the GPS was sometimes a bit confused in the Scottish highlands. The large screen makes the media side of things easy to control, and gives a nice clear view when the reversing camera kicks in. I haven't yet used the voice control as I didn't have time to fit the mic before the holiday. I am not usually a Google fan but you can't fault Google Maps as a nav aid (well, perhaps sometimes when Google thinks it knows your mind better than you do!) and it was nice to be able to plan my route on the phone in the evening and then just plug it in to the Alpine in the morning and all my points of interest appeared. So, not a cheap system by any means but it looks and behaves like a quality item. I think I like it already.
