  • Wax Jacket Restorer

This stuff is marvellous. I saw it recommended elsewhere at a much higher price so I checked out ebay and found it here for a lot less. My wax jacket was beginning to look a little past its best and I know this stuff is primarily meant to restore waterproofing but it also rejuvenates the whole look of the jacket. I was delighted with the way it looked and it has obviously made sure the proofing is back to 100%. I found the easiest way to apply is with a lint free cloth. It looks a bit odd at first but when you play a hair drier over it the wax melts and disappears into the fabric and you can easily add a bit more or spread it around if you think it needs it. I could have done my jacket several times over with this size tub. I need not have worried the whole job was so easy and they say you just need to leave the garment in a warm room to cure after treatment. It smells less than its original treatment as well.

  • Re proofing - laborious but worth it

It’s an old wax jacket, looking much the worse for wear. Is it worth spending on a tin of reproofing wax. I think so. It’s a bit tedious rubbing in the wax and time consuming. Find a surface to do it on as it’s sticky. If you’re going to do it take time to do it properly. The tin said let the wax dry and it does feel very wet and sticky at first. It took time to dry but no stickiness left and no smell. The jacket colour was pale brown, it now looks darker and has revitalised it from very shabby to very acceptable. It was a three quarter jacket, enough left in the tin for another time.

  • Soft Wax, Durable

Most waxes on the market today are quite hard by comparison although i suppose it's horses for courses. My Barbour jackets take quite a bit of hammer and require at least 2 good waxing with the Barbour wax a year, HOWEVER.. when my jackets are needing a little tlc and a touch up, i can apply this wax in the field as it is. No need to prewarm as the wax is very soft which makes it an excellent product. I bought a small round food container from Asda's with a resealable lid and simply transfered a small amount into that. The Barbour's inner pockets are like small caverns so you don't realise it's there. The product is very good at waterproofing my boots which is a god send. For the price i would say it's fantastic, extreamly versatile product and soooo easy to apply it takes seconds. I could do with a much, much bigger tub for other projects that require this product. All in all 10/10.

  • A Great Re-proofing Wax.

This is a great re-proofing wax. It's a little thinner that traditional Barbour wax. This is how I apply it: 1. Put a large couple of spoonfulls into a metal tin and heat this in a pan of water. 2. When it melts, dip a small sponge or cloth into the wax (it will be hot!!) and start rubbing this onto the jacket. 3. Rub it well into the seams and all over the jacket. 4. Once complete hang the jacket up in a warm place (I hang mine outside on a hot day) and let the heat melt the wax into the cloth, and there you have it. Now you may get some white marks where the wax has dried but not soaked in - this is quite normal. To deal with this use a hair dryer to heat up the wax and help it soak in. If you have far to much wax on the jacket, warm it up with the hair dryer and wipe any excess off with a clean cloth. I have re-proofed many jackets and the above process works well for me.

  • newby reproofer

first time reproofer, I found the softened wax easy to apply but when it dried it looked uneven, used a hair drier all over and the seams, I had perhaps applied too much wax, I have yet to finish off with a sponge, not worn out yet, I have another jacket to do so hoping for a better finish next time, does what it says on the tin though

  • Brilliant

Easy to use. Makes reproofing cotton wax garments a breeze. Take note I applied mine sparingly with a toothbrush. It looked great, dried without stickiness but I had to do it again. I applied more liberally second time and it was much better. The whole process was very quick. The recommendation to use a hair dryer works brilliantly. Can’t recommend highly enough.

  • Does what it says on the tin!

A lot lighter than other wax's I have used. Absorbs easily and when finishes with heat it is in my opinion equivalent to Barbour's sylkoil. One 400g tub just about finished my large parka. But this is a large parka! It smells good as well and performed adequately in heavy rain. I will definitely use again.

  • Impressed

Tried this wax for the first time having previously used other more expensive premium brands. One tub reproofed 3 wax jackets and the results were very good. Found it easy to use and there was minimal wax odour by comparison to other brands. Overall a good wax which I will certainly use again.

  • Coat like new again

Hi re Gold label wax for cotton garments, I used this on my black Wax cotton coat, Bellstaff type. I use a cloth to apply the wax in a warm room and layed the coat flat on a table, rubbing in the wax into all the folds , it was absorbed really easley. I used a hair dryer to smooth it out , I hung it up in airing cupboard over night. Next day it was very cold and the wax dried in patches around the coat, I just re applied the hair dryer and rubbed the wax back in. Coat looks like new again , great product thanks Ian
