Helpful Tool
As others have indicated - the hook portion is somewhat lacking in its ability to remain in the magazine well - so you need to keep an eye on it before it swings out of position. I was trying to use this on the Magpul SL style of handguards - and the tool gets in the way. It's not the tool's fault. The SL hand guards extend over the delta ring. It still worked, but not as easily as it does on a standard hand guard. Bottom line: For a few bucks - this tool will make removing and installing hand guards much, much faster and easier. Poor design
The prong at the center of this tool is supposed to fit inside the magazine well on your AR's lower receiver. The idea is that the prong becomes the leverage point when you squeeze the arms of the tool against the sides of your weapon's delta ring, to pull the delta ring rearward, toward the upper receiver. The problem is that the prong is too short to stay engaged inside the magazine well. It's so short that it slips out of the magazine well. You can make the tool work by pressing the mag well and tool against some kind of pad on a floor, but that wouldn't be necessary if the prong had been designed and made to a proper length.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Hook End is Poorly Designed
Although this product works to some degree, I had great difficulty using it to keep the handguard ring down far enough to remove the handguard. The hook end that is supposed to go into the magazine well is poorly designed. When trying to get leverage on the handguard ring and pull it down, the hook end of the tool would not stay in the magazine well. If I were designing it, I would make the hook end a bit longer, maybe, so that it would stay in the well when applying downward force on the handguard ring. I would also make it a bit wider so that the forked end can get around a scope. In my case, I had to adjust the scope position to use the tool...again poor design when it can be prevented.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Don't buy this junk!
This thing is strong but has a poor design at the clip-hook end. Look at the curve, it should of been designed at sharp 90 degree angles -- this curve causes it to not grib the magazine slot correctly..... hmm, curve + square ? it dont fit. Another problem is that the tool is wrapped in a silky smooth plastic...Slipping out all the way, its not even a rough rubber. It's junk.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Really helps remove handgaurd
This is a much needed tool unless your hands are King Kong strong. For the first several times of field stripping my ar I had a tussle but with this tool It became a lot easier. I would have given this a 5 but the hook end does not clip onto the magazine well very well and will pop out pretty easily. Still a great tool and good shipper.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Bad product that will ruin your gun EXTREMELY SLIPPERY
I ordered the product a few days ago and I had been really excited to use it. Who knew it would be sooooo SLIPPERY and the rubber on it was peeling off the first time I used it. Also, the angle of the tip was not right so it slips out of magazine slot. I ended up using more than 40 minutes installing my new handguard. PLEASE DO NOT BUY. Piece of junk
This is a piece of junk. Really bad design, was easier using hands. I don’t know how the ppl that gave this 5 stars could give it 5 stars. Tool kept slipping out of magazine hole and could not get leverage without it slipping out. I guess that’s what I get for buying cheap. Bad design won't work right slips off
This thing can't get out of its own way. Hook end too short and slips out. Bends are poorly placed the hook on the tool will slip out of the magazine well. The hook either needs to be lengthened or hinged. There just has to be a better design out there.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Well made - easy to grip
Great tool for us old-timers with RA. This tool is all steel with a vinyl coating and grips the edge of the mag opening and D-ring firmly.
