Insights into surviving the trials of life
A collection of thirteen short stories. The tales take you inside the mind of the lead character as they attempt to deal with the challenge of the situation that they find themselves in. The tales reflect a variety of modern (and ancient?) human problems - effectively the trials of life. As each story begins, the reader can see what they see, and hear their thoughts. Initially one can be quite confused as to what is going on. The characters often have a preoccupation with a repeated intrusive thought that recurs, as they attempt to manage their way through. Gradually, an odd thought, or word , here and there, betrays an idea to the reader that begins to shed light on the real concern that the character has to face. All at once, the often strange, even bizarre opening paragraphs that one has read earlier, jump into focus. Having experienced the character's response, one suddenly understands what they have survived. At present I have read the first eight stories. One, I don't think I understood at all - and will return. The rest have been intriguing , and ultimately, satisfying. I look forward to the remainder.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
