Stunningly accurate historical portrait
A nine part series detailing the Life and Times of Britain's most radical Prime Minister. The series tells how David Lloyd George grew up from very humble origins to rise to war time Prime Minister. The series doesn't pull any punches and deals with his inveterate womanising his shady financial scandles in an open and honest manner. There are some stunning acting performances from some actors who later went on to be household names - Kika Markham David Markham and Ruth Madoc but none more so than Philip Madoc who gave the performance of his life in the title role. Anyone who buys and watches this series will be left with two feelings. An admiration for the man from the valleys who became to be known as the Welsh Wizard for his oratory and his subtle amendments to parliamentary bills that had great overall effect- and emptiness after the last episode is finished. You will be left wondering what life was like before you watched it. The film quality of the first episode seems a slightly poorer quality to the rest of the episodes but this might just be because it was filmed in the small dark cottage that was DLG's childhood home. An absolutely riveting watch which shows modern historical dramas up for the superficial escapism they are. Do not miss this series which is introdiced by the haunting theme music Chai Mai - specially written for the series.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
