Title: A Midwinter's Tale. To act or not to act?. So in the stalwart (read: desperate) tradition of actors everywhere, Joe vows to put on a show, a special (read: even more desperate) version of the greatest play in the English tongue.

About this product

Product Information

Comedy in which a shabby group of actors and amateurs decide to stage a low-budget production of Hamlet. Joe Harper (Michael Maloney) is a down-on-his-luck actor who decides to be charitable and put on the play in a small church, much to the surprise of his acerbic agent (Joan Collins). A variety of old hams and young hopefuls are cast in the roles and the production gets underway, but Joe's problems are only just beginning.

  • A Great British Comedy

I have been waiting for years for this to be released on DVD. It has still not been released here in the UK, which is surprising since it is a quintessentially British comedy. Fortunately I have a multiregion player. All the performances are first class and, anyone who has been connected with theatrical productions whether professional or amateur, will recognise the characters who are depicted. It is funny, moving and will leave viewers with a smile on their face.
