  • Pro-Ject E1 Record Deck

Seller neglected to mention that the tonearm lift mechanism was damaged and the carrier was also broken. To fix this, I would have needed to replace the entire tonearm which was not economical. Also, in spite of some good reviews for the E1, I found this turntable constructed of very cheap materials - the base is just cut out of MDF covered with what is effectively just wood grain contact paper. The actual platter is a cheap plastic moulding - the cast alloy of my go-to deck weighs more than the whole E1. The tonearm was adequate, but nothing special. Whilst this was a used example, new ones sell for £200 which I think is grossly over-priced given that one can buy a decent used Linn for little more.
