Saved me a small fortune on having to have new sump fitted
Saved me a small fortune. Used this kit to rethread my VW Passat sum thread from 14mm to 15mm as the aluminium sump thread had been stripped. This saved me having to have the car dismantled and a whole new sump fitting costing many hundreds. Used this kit to cut new thread and use the 1 of 6 supplied sump plugs and washers. Life saving kit. Have a further 5 sump plugs for future oil changes. I am a DIYer and had no previous experience of using this kit and the thread cutting tool. Common sense and you can do this job in about 20 mins. My experience was on a 2003 VW Passat 1.9 tdi B5.5 model. It had a aluminium sump and thread and the nut was steel. The steel nut had been over tightened and stripped out the thread in the sump. Give this kit a go !!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

I dont ever leave reviews but had to for this product. While servicing my high mileage Audi, the threads came out of the sump pan causing an oil leak. Got quoted £800 for a new oil pan + labour. Came across this, watched a few review vids and seemed straight forward enough. Tried it out today and no more oil leak! Was a bit fiddly to get it dead straight in the sump pan but slowly and surely got the new threads done and voila, all done. A proper engineering solution for pennies.,
Used after a garage had stripped a 14mm sump thread on my daughters VW Golf. As you are only going up 1mm in size no drilling out was required. I coated the tap with grease to contain the swarf and made multiple small amounts of progress, cleaning and regreasing as I went. Cheaper easier repair kit a must have must use
my 14mm sump bolt had been over tightened by some other idiot enough to strip the thread, so purchased this instead of using expensive time-sert or heli coil repair kits.. this was cheaper. So easy to use repair done in under 10 minutes.. advice always remove sump cover from engine to save getting bits inside engine.
