A remarjable score from a remarkable film that stands on its own
An excellent score from a film that has been part of my life since I was eight years old.
At times strident, inspiring and fierce, at others contemplative, quiet and moving.
The recording is clear and the horns sound gorgeous.
With some film scores it can be hard to just listen to the music as a piece in and of itself, which I expected to be the case here, but I do not think that is entirely so and the music certainly stands on its own two feet and therefore I would rate it up there with some of Mr Zimmer's great works.
Its not exactly great value for money I paid a penny under twenty five pounds all said and done for this c.d. However this is not to besmirch the seller, for that is a fair market price for this c.d. But it is a c.d. from the era and therefore its very bare bones in presentation and its just a c.d. The fact is I brought it because I wished to have it and I placed value on it in that context, so its value for money for me but perhaps not for others.
