Basically, when one buys a shovel, its expected that you have some heavy work to do and in that respect, the shovel AND YOURSELF should be in good condition. after all, you might be mixing cement or shifting lots of soil etc.A shovel, by its very nature will be relatively heavy for a person who is not used to fairly heavy manual labour so one needs to take that AND their age and condition in mind. This one is a fair price and is heavier than a wooden shaft type...its all steel. In fact, this type can be passed down to a 2nd or 3rd generation easily owing to its construction providing its not carelessly left out in all weathers and treated with respect. Reason for 4 stars: Some people might find it easier to buy a lighter shovel.
