Reliable amps for PI and portable hard drive
The cable is good, not flimsy. The switch is 10cm from the microusb male. total actual cable length (excluding microusb and power) 142cm)
Switch is push in toggle type.
I used a 2 1/2 inch (6cm) 80Gig hard drive (reclaimed from a sony laptop) with a usb Y cable.
Usb2 (so less max amperage required on startup than usb3).
I also used a wifi dongle (rtl8188CUS) as an AP with Wifi power increased from standard).
Plus, ethernet connected. (Using this on a Pi B2 - with zoneminder). (Pi users will recall that ethernet is really connected via usb under the hood)
Power supply up and stable for the last 3 days. Runs cool - not even warm.
Perhaps the internals are from china - but, I purchased via European eBay seller and found this unit to be far more accurate and reliable than others with higher claimed amperage.
