I bought this same jet pump 11 years ago. Knowing that the shelve life of these pumps is about 8 to 10 years. I wanted to buy a back up before my current pump died. This gives me a chance to shop around and get the best price. Which I spent about a month shopping and finally pulled the trigger. I now have a brand new pump sitting on the shelf. Forget the 3 year warranty, these pumps don't break down that quick. I've tested this pump buy hooking it up where my old pump is. Everything worked just fine. Put the old pump back on and I'm good to go. The more expensive pumps are said to last 15 to 18 years, and so I bought one before the one I am using now. ( That cost 3 times what I paid for this one.) It lasted about 9 years. And of course broke down during freezing weather making it difficult to replace and even harder to find locally in stock at Home Depot. So how good is this pump. 5 Star. Read full review

They leak at the seal where the motor goes into the pump. Eventually it can't keep prime due to the leak. The housing starts to deform. The motor sometimes freezes up and you need to turn it to break it free. It even tells you about this in the instructions. In the end I got maybe 7 or 8 months use out this. I went through several models. This brand seems to be no good for pumps. .

I have had 3 of these pumps. I cant get more than 5 to 7 months out of them. The rating on these pumps is over stated as well. The seal where the pu8mp meets the motor is poorly designed and cant be bought anywhere. the pump is made in china, and the seal is proprietary to this brand. Which makes repairing it impossible. It may be cheaper than a competing brand pump, but in the long run you will pay significantly more.
