Different strokes for different folks!
I am relatively new to the electric guitar. I have played just occasionally over the years picking up bits of knowledge as to how to get what I think are good sounds out of a guitar and amp. That has brought me to this: I don't really want to depend on a tube rig to play when the mood strikes me, as I listen to music all day. And I had never really developed a certain sound or style preference (think Marshall) over the years; just looking for what I thought were the sounds that fit the music I was experimenting with. Learning may chords including bar chords really help me get to a level of being able to do that. To me, the older Peavey amps (TransTube being the exception) do what I IMAGINE Harley Peavey might have been trying to accomplish. To create the best and most authentic processing of the guitar's signal with the least amount of noise, Some guitarists turn their noses up to Peavey products saying they sound bad, but I am not understanding that. I think maybe they sound somewhat unconventional.....but if you want a Marshall or Fender, than GET a Marshall or Fender! I like the amps and guitars, and have more Peavey pieces than anything else! Quality is also exceptional; old amps always seem to clean up well.....made in the USA!
