Feature packed amp with Very Good potential . . . still looking for Sweet Spot !!!

Found 1 at a Great Value price range, after looking at all features for a wide range of uses, but found that the Lead Channel just loads up too much Fuzz, instead of overdrive ~ natural punch output . . . . so it is just like so many other Hybrids out there ~ combo Tube power ~ running & controlled by solid state flavored output !! Enough of the right Tone Caps included ??? Still working with it & may take some time with what I find perfect. Have not used any other inputs items, . . just working with what is built in . . . so time will tell !!!

Peavey Classic 20 MH Mini Amp Head

Good little package, but just a bit tinny and harsh for my likes - want the jazz capability too, and there was a lot of dialling in to do this. But...really light and powerful.

  • How'd they pack so much punch into such a tiny package?!

I've been using modded Classic 30's for years - combos & heads. One thing I don't like about them is they are 16 ohm, so your speaker choices can be limited. The Classic 20 solves that, & lots more. Switchable from 4, 8, or 16 ohms - I can use it with any of my cabs now. I mainly use it with a tweed open back CraigsList cab, loaded with a 15" Weber Ferromax - the bottom end is to die for with a Tele or Les Paul Jr! And you can't beat the tone of a tube amp! The size is perfect for most of the venues I play at - so damn easy to carry up a flight of stairs, or throw on the front seat of my car! And the drive channel actually sounds better & is more useable than the Classic 30 - really no mods needed. A channel footswitch would sure be nice, but I guess they ran out of space. I am anxious to see what a tube upgrade will sound like too. And the XLR out is great - soundmen love it! I do wish you could adjust the level, though. The digital reverb sounds pretty dang good too. If it got stolen, I'd sell something & buy another in a heartbeat - worth every penny!

  • Classic 20

I cannot say enough about this amp. I was looking for an alternative to my Mesa and this thing hit the sweet spot. Plays well at all wattage levels and takes pedals very well. Loud enough to play out in a small bar and easy to carry. I'm using a closed back cabinet and it just thumps with smooth bass and clear highs. A great additional to my herd.

  • Solid little rockin' machine!

The Peavey Classic 20 MH is a practical, light weight sound machine. Great cleans, as much gain as you'd want for classic rock and features for days. Very pleased with the performance through a 1x12. But this thing really shines through my 2x12 with Celestion Greenbacks. Easy to dial in sounds that will make you smile. Always play longer than I plan to, because it just sounds so good. Foot switch is a nice addition. I'm used to buying those separate. Haven't used the effects loop yet, but it gets tested next.

  • An instant "classic"

This amp is a tone monster! It can do anything from clear beautiful cleans, to rough and raunchy rock! Really easy to dial in your own perfect rock tones. Takes pedals well too! I really like the multiple power settings. In the 20 watt setting you can jam with the band, then take it home and practice on the 1watt setting while the fam sleeps peacefully. A great all around amp!

  • Classic 20MH

Fantastic amp at a fantastic value!!! I'm a big fan of the older USA Classic 30's, Classic 50's, & Delta Blues offerings from Peavy, I own over a dozen all totaled. Unfortunately while all of them sound great they are also very loud for playing around the house so I figured I'd try one of these as a bedroom/livingroom amp & I really couldn't be happier! It's not exactly the same as it's big brothers but it gets you 95% of the way there & the extra features like power scaling make up for these hardly noticeable shortcomings. Beautiful cleans, great crunch, & more gain on tap than a lot of high gain tube amps I've owned...

  • 100% Satisfied

I'm completely happy with this amp. The main reason I chose it was to get a clean breakup tone at lower volumes. I get this by pushing my little 8' open back speaker. However it can also get as loud as you need through a larger cab for show volumes. The 1/5/20 watt attenuator is perfect for that. The tone is voiced kind of jazzy bluesy when clean, and it sounds rawk when pushed or on the gain channel. It's absolutely perfect for me.

  • FANTASTIC BLUES HEAD!

I'm an old rocker, who's played on big stages and small, but ... well, I'm OLD now! So, the playing I do is some good ole blues. Texas, Chiicago, Memphis, and a few hybrids. I wanted an amp that I could wail away with, but that I could also get great tone out of, even if I was sitting in my living room, by myself, while the rest of the family was asleep. This was IT! At 20 EL84 watts, this amp has enough juice to work a medium sized stage - especially with the XLR out. But, the ability to drop the power to 5 watts, or even 1 watt! THAT'S awesome! Now, any amp is only as good as the speaker it plays through (although this one can be run directly into headphones or even USB'd into a DAW). Because I love the old blues sounds, I chose to run my Classic 20MH through a Peavey Classic 115E, cabinet. That big, fat 15" speaker just gives this little amp so much punch and thump that it's hard to imagine that it's only 20 watts. If you want an amazing, all tube, lightweight, giggable-but-just-at-home-at-home, 2 channel amp with reverb, but you don't need the horsepower of a Plexi, this could be your new buddy!
