Electro-Harmonix Cathedral Reverb Guitar Effect Pedal

About this product

Product Information

Reverb your way to your listeners’ hearts by using this Electro-Harmonix guitar pedal. Reverbs can add a dreamy and interesting depth to the sound of your guitar. The Electro-Harmonix Cathedral Stereo Reverb guitar effects pedal can help create beautiful sounds. Equipped with seven types of reverbs together with a digital echo, this pedal has two spring modes and six other creative modes that help fill in the gaps. Two tap foot switches activate and deactivate certain features of the unit. The tap footswitch on the left allows you to load and save pre-delay time settings. Just tap out the desired tempo on the tap foot switch to set the pre-delay time. Alternatively, you can hold the switch down to activate the Infinite setting and create an infinite reverb. The tap footswitch on the right is a true bypass switch that does more than just enable or disable the effect. It also connects the inputs and outputs directly. This way, when the effect is not being used, the unit doesn't interfere at all with the sound passing through it to your amps, mixing console, or recording console. This Cathedral guitar reverb effects pedal also functions with true stereo. There are two inputs on the right side and two outputs on the left for separate channels. Then, by plugging your amps into either one or both outs, you can control whether you hear the resulting effects in mono or stereo. For further refinement, a few tone controls are available on the pedal for you to tinker with to achieve the result you like. The Electro-Harmonix EHX reverb effects pedal features six knobs and one push preset on its face. The knobs control Blend, Reverb Time, Damping/Tone, Feedback, and Pre-Delay. The push preset controls the mode, and there are eight presets in all. They are Grail Spring, Accu Spring, Hall, Room, Plate, Reverse, Grail Flerb, and Echo. The Damping and Tone controls are even available for the presets. A green light below the list of modes on the unit's surface indicates the preset mode is activated. A red light beside each of the modes themselves then indicates which mode is currently enabled. The Electro-Harmonix EHX Cathedral features 24-bit processing via A/D/A converters. It has an input impedance of 2,000,000 M ohms and an output impedance of 300 K ohms. The unit measures 2.5 by 8 inches, and it weighs 2 pounds. Designed for electric guitars, these pedals also work well with bass guitars or even electrified acoustic guitars. People also get creative using a reverb pedal with other electric instruments or electrified acoustic instruments. From sound check to the live performance stage and studio recordings, the Electro-Harmonix EHX Cathedral creates the perfect reverb for the perfect scenarios. From an operatic aria to classic rock featuring hardcore drum and bass, this pedal will help you match any type of music. With it, you can fill any space with a dreamy atmosphere or crank out the chunky delays in tight intimately recorded tracks. The unit comes with instructions for use and its own A/C power supply.

  • A Reverb for the Tinkerer

The Cathedral is a digital reverb, make no doubt about it. If you turn it up to certain ridiculous settings there will be the slightest hint of digital artifacts. These fit in with the style of music I play however so no issue there. Setting presets is easy - you hold the white button and it is written. There are no "secret settings" to be concerned with, however keep in mind that there are a lot of parameters to control nonetheless. This is definitely for advanced pedal users as it takes a long time to dial in. The fun had doing so is priceless. If you're looking for Kevin Shields' secret mojo, it isn't hiding here, contrary to what the youtube videos tell you. That's in his style of playing as well as insane volume. Reverse reverb does help, but this isn't quite right. It does sound wonderful regardless. Grail flerb surprised me the most. You can get some interesting sounds by muting your guitar with a killswitch and getting percussive modulated effects, but i'll leave that up to you to explore.

  • Amazing Spring Reverb

I play primarily Jazz and Surf Guitar and purchased the Oceans 11 for the Spring Reverb and it did not disappoint - The Spring Reverb sounds amazing - in the short time that I've owned the pedal I've been impressed with the overall quality of the reverbs. The pedal is monophonic so it will not be everybody but it's perfect for my needs.
