You generally get what you pay for, but with these brushes you get more than you normally expect. I have bought Langnickel brushes over many years now. In my opinion Royal and Langnickel are unsung heroes, and the friend of many an artist. Artists, like everyone else, have to watch the pennies carefully. Oil painting can be very hard on brushes, but I find that Langnickel brushes in most cases, match or outperform brushes from far more illustrious manufacturers, lasting just as long, keeping their shape just as well, and best of all, not shedding hairs. I bought this set of three brushes for the purpose of applying gesso to my cradled wood panels prior to painting in oil. I have already gessoed about a dozen panels (A3 and A4 sized). Not one shedded hair yet and no sign of that changing any time soon. The gesso is applied easily and smoothly. They would also make very good watercolour brushes to apply broad washes of sky and sea. They are that good. Cheap and cheerful they may be, but I am as happy as Larry with them. Fantastic brushes.Read full review
