I have moved up to a gumball head on my In Euro tripod. This is superb for long telephoto lenses and for my spotting scope as the dovetail plates run in line with the optical axis of the lenses. As I use a ReallyRightStuff "L" bracket, this runs across the optical axis of the camera body. Using any short lens that doesn't have it's own tripod bush means that it points at 90 degrees to the gumball head. I was not prepared to have to keep swapping tripod heads so needed a 90 degree adaptor. Enter the Nodal Slide. Now when I go photographing wildlife up in the Hebrides, I can photograph the Auroro Borealis in the evenings without taking two tripods or messing about with Allen keys to swap heads over. It's a really solid little item. Far better than screwing two mount plates together at 90 degrees! If you swap between dovetail L bracket on the camera and longitudinal dovetail on a telephoto, it's a must have item.Read full review
