  • Madison 25W (Rms per channel into 8 Ohm) Bluetooth enabled Stereo Valve amplifier

At first glance, the unit is decently designed and from its appearance I was expecting a reasonably clear, accurate sound at a reasonable volume, without having to compensate for deficiencies through the spectrum, or large output variations from different sources.. The unit was however obviously designed from a Form over function perspective, which, for the casual listener who only requires background music, is OK... . While the price is very low for an amplifier of this kind, it is most suitable for amplifying portable CD/MP3 players, or playing from a Usb drive etc through low end "basic" loudspeakers where the lack of high frequency response and low amplification of Bluetooth sources isn't important.. . The deficiencies in build/assembly quality are more evident than photos would suggest, but as with most things, the quality is reflected in the price... . I would not recommend this amplifier as part of a general, mainstream hi-fi system due to the woeful treble response and sound definition, plus the steep rise in distortion as the output increases past 50%.. From a serious listening standpoint, The stated 25W rms per channel @ 8 Ohms is unachievable without excessive clipping and distortion through half decent loudspeakers, but once again, this is reflected in the price... . The integrated Bluetooth preamplification stage could have easily been used to provide an input for a turntable at almost no cost, but the need for a separate preamp should you wish to include this in your system makes it a poor choice for anyone wishing to listen to vinyl recordings now, or in the future as the extra expense far outweighs its value where sound quality is concerned... . If you need a half decent hi-fi component amplifier on a budget, a similarly priced integrated solid state amplifier would serve the purpose better... But as a piece of fashionable furniture and/or easy access Bluetooth/CD background music solution, it will do the job admirably at a reasonable price
