Very entertaining bedtime story for children as the calendar leads up to Hallowe’en. The natural reaction to try an ‘kick that pumpkin’ every time is comes up adds to the humour of the story. The story follows a series of sequences like many folk tales. Someone new is added in succession to help solve a problem. In this case, the problem is trying to move a giant pumpkin. A similar folk story is about a giant turnip and finding a way to pull it out of the ground.
