For those searching for an affordable and well made MP Prime, you may want to skip this and buy the MP10 instead. This is an older product that while it was very good when 1st released its not holding up. I broke the gas tank on the right leg during transformation. The lower legs were stuck and I snapped the Tank. Yes my fault. I have bought 2 of these. I sold one years ago and then bought this one. Both are GOOD representations of Prime, not super accurate but this is what was available back then.. Build quality and paint are good. Transformation on this one was not smooth and not enjoyable, becuase I broke it the second time I transformed it. The accessories - axe and the gun/blaster. Both are decent. I recommend the figure to those that know that this isn't the end all figure of prime. So its a solid figure but remember durability may be an issue. Mine is now in truck mode until I fix it.Read full review

I love the MP-1 mold Optimus Prime! He looks great with plenty of gimmicks. The only gripe I have is no trailer like the later released MP-4 Masterpiece Optimus Prime. But you can always just get an aftermarket iGear trailer for it off of here that is copied off of the MP-4 trailer. My only other gripe is the sound box that comes with him is not the original voice actor for the Generation 1 cartoon from the 80's and the recent live action movies which is Peter Cullen. But rather Ron Hayden who is a in house voice actor for Hasbro. However his Peter Cullen impressions are pretty good for the lines he says. Anybody who doesn't have an MP-1 old should get one. It is not as nice as the later MP-10 mold version but this one has more diecast in it and is still really nice looking. Well worth the money!Read full review

To date, this is still my favorite version of Optimus Prime. I know many will say the MP-10 mold is superior and I have it and enjoy it as well, but I consider MP-01 to be superior in many ways and the better figure overall. I love the gimmicks: the moving mouthplate; the pistons that extend and retract when flexing the elbow, wrist, knee, and foot joints; the flip out wrist communicators; and the light up Matrix of Leadership. I love the design. While MP-10 bears a closer resemblance to the old '80s cartoon, this version has better proportions (no gorilla arms or stubby legs like MP-10) and at two full inches taller, makes for a much more impressive display. He has quite a bit of die cast: the lower legs and the chest panels. There are a few downsides to this figure, though. His truck mode is somewhat less impressive than his robot mode. He is not in scale with any of the other Masterpiece Transformers aside from MP-5 Megatron (although there is a recent trend of KO companies producing MP Transformers in this scale). And, as previously noted, the later released MP-10 Optimus bears a much stronger resemblance to the original G1 cartoon than this one and it has a much nicer truck mode (albeit with a ludicrously thick back section).Read full review
