We purchased this for my father-in-law, as he lives on his own and was always filling and boiling a kettle for one. As he has difficulty getting about now, it is much easier for him to just pop a cup under the water heater and make himself a hot drink without the messing about with a kettle. He also keeps a jug of water beside it as he finds this easier to refill the heater without removing the tank because he said it was heavy for him to lift when full. It has been over a year since we bought this and it is still working well. Heats up the water to a nice drinking heat, but isn't boiling if you like your drinks at that temperature. Have since bought a second one of these for my own parents.

I previously had a Bosch Filtrino hot water dispenser which served well for around two years before the hard water (despite a filter being used) caused a component to fail. I managed to replace the part but only got a further nine months or so of use. Having looked around for some time weighing up the various options I decided on this item, primarily because it has built in filtration. As a product, so far, it has performed well and I am pleased with it and would likely recommend it. So what about the but? I opted for this item because the price was considerably less than a brand new, perfect one. I have to take issue with the description though. The item was listed as "New Other" followed by "Premium Quality Guaranteed, Slight Box Damage". This was qualified further as follows: “These are ex-display or box damaged or returned stock etc and have been classified factory seconds and have been personally examined and checked by ourselves. The condition is very good, apart from testing, completely unused, complete with all their accessories with no major scratches or marks but they may have some light cosmetic handling marks in Original Box” I am afraid this is misleading. The one I received, for the most part, does appear to meet this description. However, There is one part, the stainless steel part the cup sits on, That shows significant signs of use. I have attached a picture to show this, although it is difficult to get the light just right to show how badly it is scratched. On this evidence it is impossible to say exactly how old the machine is or how many times it has been used but it is not restricted to just testing that is certain. Stainless steel is a hard material and would not scratch so much with minimal use. Additionally the Brita filter cartridge was not wrapped so I have no idea how old that is. The instructions are also clearly a poorly put together set of photocopies. If this item was merely as described I would have expected a new filter and the original instructions. The product would have got 4 stars and possibly, given time to better evaluate it, 5 stars. I hope it lasts as least as long as the Bosch it replaced. Only time will tell.Read full review

Such a useful machine and so safe . To be able to make a mug of tea or instant hot chocolate cup a soup etc .. To be able to leave in place safely if you need to multi task is very helpful . The machine is much quicker than a kettle and I recommend because you only need to heat up what you set the dial at each time. The illuminating light is helpful if you choose to make a drink in the evening or early hours and need to keep room light low ,an added safety feature.

This (is) a good item, in that it "does" boil water very rapid, and ideal if you don't need more than a cup at a time. Probably not the best purchase however, if you have guests, so keep the standard kettle nearby if you need several cups, or to fill a tea pot. My only gripe to note is that the one I purchased, seems to boil the same amount of water, no matter "what" the cup setting is turned to. So the cup setting seems non active on mine. The only other thing.....don't fill too fast as the water takes time to go through the filter.

It’s quick and easy to use, it’s a good size Tank. Love the Brita filter this is what drew me to this product as previously had a brita kettle. You get a perfect cup of tea or coffee everytime. It looks smart on your worktop, I use a measuring jug to top the water up as find it a little heavy for me to hold(due to health issues) the only downside to this product is the cup sizes they don’t go up big enough as me & my hubby have very large mugs so have to fill twice on 2 different settings but you do get use to it
