The Special Edition of the Gram Amp 2 phono stage preamp features 50 percent more gain to deliver a higher output favoured by owners of passive preamps when using medium to high output (4.5mV or above) moving magnet phono cartridges. However, it can be used with all moving magnet, moving iron and high output moving coil cartridges.

Excellent phono stage at an affordable price
I was pleased with the performance of this little phono stage. Nice treble without being harsh or grainy. There is ample tight bass not overblown or one note bass. Fine detail coming through on vocals and no noise bleeding through from adjacent power line adapter. Listen to Jacques Lousier Play Bach number 2 album (1962) and the you will be amazed at the sound. It sounds better compared with digital hi resolution streaming. For best results use the Graham Slee PSU ( or make your own 24 volt PSU) separated and off the rack and not the awful “ wall wart “ SMPS it is supplied with. Equipment line up Rega RP6, tweaked by Isceni audio . Audio technica MM cartridge quad 303 power amp with Passive switch box and dynaudio audience 42 stand mount speakers on custom made stands
