It came without any little earbuds, so I connected my big old Realistic Nova 40 over the ear earphones, using an adapter to fit the 1/4" plug on the phones to the 1/8" jack on the Discman, and the sound (to my 85 year old ears) is great. There are some good design points. It's not hard to open it to change the CD or the batteries. It plays MP3 files even when they're nested in folders (which it calls "groups"). The control for the display is near the display. The display is conveniently placed on the hand strap where it's easy to see, though it's small, which with the unavoidable low contrast makes it hard to read. The strap is not very easy to adjust but once adjusted properly it's secure. There are plenty of features, more than I need, though I did use the feature that turns the display around so I can read it with my left hand in the strap. But the controls, except for "open" and "lock," are marked in relief in the gray rubber, not in color, which makes them very hard to read. The group up and down arrows are on the hand strap, next to the display, while the rest of the playback controls are on the rim of the device. The barely readable playback controls are reused to select and activate features, using a menu in the barely readable display. The hold switch, which keeps you from accidentally activating control buttons, is under your hand when your hand is tucked into the strap. The strap itself is not padded, so I find it painful after a few minutes—maybe the trouble is that my fingers are short so I have to shove my hand hard under the strap. So I'm walking with it in a bag slung over my shoulder instead of holding it in my hand. Once I have it set and started, I don't have to do anything more with it; it just plays. If it ever breaks I would probably replace it with a model without a hand strap, but this one is OK for now.Read full review

This Walkman was purchased mainly for the CD capabilities and it sounds so good. The enclosed earphones are so comfortable compared to over-the-head earphones - no pressure on the ears as time goes buy. This unit, with its wrist-wearing band can be worn on the wrist OR on a belt at the waist. Once it got dropped, and, when picked up, it had not skipped a beat - it was still playing beautifully! By going on line and plugging in the model number, the instructions on how to use our Walkman were available to be read and printed out, if desired.

This is about the most versatile Sony S2 Sport CD player as it includes a 4 band radio with AM, FM, Weather and TV bands in the USA and Canada version. The TV band is obsolete as it only covered the pre digital high definition channels 2 through 13, no longer being broadcast. It also handles standard audio CDs as well as MP3 encoded CDs and the Sony exclusive Atrac3 plus coded CDs which are no longer supported with Sony computer software for CD creation unfortunately. Other MP3 CD creation software is available. With its clamshell twist to open construction and extra thick permanently attached combined handle and display/controls mechanism it is about the bulkiest and thickest Sony S2 CD player model and is not nearly as easy to open and close as the buckle opening and closing Sony sport models, particularly with small or wet hands. The thickness also means it will not fit many CD player carrying/storage cases and fanny packs.Read full review

Bought this to resume exercise using my vast CD collection and it did not disappoint. Plays everything I attempt, so far. Easy to use, seems to use very little battery life. Radio and weather features very useful. Only ding is sound quality has no EQ, and display is teeny therefore hard to read.

Excellent sound and plays all my mp3/wma cds. I bought a cd belt because I don't care for the hand strap and for anyone who buys one, you have to line it up to open and close and lock, if you don't it won't play.
