Neat damper and very effective.
I like this damper, it is an economic way of providing a chimney damper as you can fit it to an existing pipe and so saves on buying a complete fitting that would need the existing pipework modified when installing on an existing system. It is easy enough to install, I'd recommend sticking a bit of tape where you want to drill to avoid the drill slipping and drilling a small pilot hole first and making sure drill bits are sharp. Now it is fitted it has calmed down my wood fired range and will substantially reduce my fuel consumption this coming winter. Of course I can't yet comment on longevity, I'm sure the cast iron flap will last, but the spindle will probably be the weak spot unless it is high quality steel.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Excellent item to control your stove
As I live in a very exposed location my stove was always drawing to much air regardless of how I set the vents. This is a well made item that works exactly as I need by controlling the amount of draw from my chimney and flue. I now leave the stove control vents open and regulate the airflow with the damper which gives a far superior level of control and burn. Cost effective method of controlling a wood burning stove. I had to remove the flue from the stove as I couldn't get the damper up from inside the stove due to a restriction in the stove top. Heavy iron damper
Easy to fit with a clever sprung mechanism design to lock the spindle into the damping plate once in place. Strong and heavy duty, one cannot complain at this price. Simple to fit
Simple to fit. It could be inserted into the flue on my stove from within the stove and then the shaft passed through holes drilled in the flue wall, through the retaining holes in the damper and then out through the other side of the flue. Care must be taken to drill the holes in the flue wall at diametrically opposed and level positions otherwise there is a danger that the damper would not be able to rotate properly.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
