A Truly Great Caravan Step
Over the passed fifty or so years I have owned many Caravans and had many caravan steps. Indeed some of the best caravans I have owned have had their own built in steps. This caravan step is great, unlike so many things now built in the twenty first Centuary this step is made of steel not plastic. As such it has much more strength than many others. As I have got older I ave got bigger and this being made of steel is happy to support my weight. Also having been very active in my younger days, my body has suffered much wear and tear as such my joints do not bend as well as they used to. This step has two nice big anti slip treads making it much easier for my wife and I to use as the amount we have to bend our knees and lift our feet is reduced. Then just to finish it off it has a hand rail to help us keep our balance whilst climbing in and out of the caravan. This is a simply engineered piece of kit with thought given to the end user built from traditional materials. It is easy to put together and light and easy to move, once in place it is stable and secure by its design. Stainless steel steps with no hand are much safer.
The product does aid getting into the caravan, but extreme care is needed using the hand rail when exiting the caravan. The product is made from tubular steel and rusts very easily as paint coating flakes off. A Step Beyond
I say this because it is much more handy having two steps up to the caravan instead of the usual one, especially for my spouse who is registered disabled. Like most steps you have to take care to have support under it in wet weather. Use the support on the opposite side of the door hinge as shown in the picture. If the door hinge is on the other side as with our caravan, it will be on the right hand side ! I don't think another support would fit if you needed one on the other side. Two step with handrail
Good price. Fast delivery and good quality. Needed two steps with rail for my caravan due to my wife having difficulty walking. These steps fit the bill exactly. Lightweight - easy to lift in and out of the van for travelling. Do not need to remove the handle once assembled. However, the 4 legs are not very well balanced - rocks slightly on a flat concrete surface. Was fine on site on gravel surface and would be on grass. Sturdy and secure.
The step is pretty looking and te rail is really secure. The powder coating is extremely thin and has already (after only one week of use) chipped in several places. It remains to be seen if corrosion will follow. Thus far in rather inclement weather conditions there is no sign of corrosion. Good but not perfect
Strong, sturdy and easy to assemble however I needed the handrail on the right of the steps for my left-handed wife and for the way the caravan door opens, securing the top part of the handrail required four screws and whilst pilot holes had been drilled for left-handed rail fitting there were none for right handed fitting. Lightweight and makes stepping up easier.
Good item and the right height for Motorhome that had quite a drop between door to electric step. This item solves that problem and still allows the door to shut. It is lightweight to move around.
