A great device for cleaning the surface of model rails
This gritty rubber can be used quite successfully by model railway enthusiasts for cleaning the track, and as it is considerably larger than the one marketed by a Devon firm beginning with 'P' for the same purpose (and also many times cheaper - size for size) it is much better value. Another advantage is that it is big enough to clean two parallel tracks at the same time, provided they have been laid close enough together. It is easier for big hand to hold this 'track rubber' than the proper one marketed for this purpose! Grit sizes - I understand that the bigger the number - the larger the grit. This blue one is right in the middle for sizew, and I personally wouldn't go any larger up the scale, otherwise noticeable scoring of the railway tracks would be visible.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

No toolbox should be without one.
These "bars" are superb for removing oxidisation, burrs and scratches from most materials. I discovered their uses many moons ago during my time as a watchmaker, but I have used it for many different purposes from re-graining metal sinks, removing rust from motorcycle parts to cleaning burnt pans. It can be used in wet or dry conditions as well. The only thing I can say that may sound negative is; don’t apply too much pressure otherwise it will wear away quickly.
