I wanted an older Apple keyboard because the newer ones didn't give me the feedback that I liked. The older keyboards, with the mechanical keys, feel better under my fingers. The large keys also make my typing more accurate as I have large fingers and occasionally, on the newer smaller keyboards, I hit two keys at the same time.

Good keyboard although...a really good mechanical keyboard should be "clicky"—this one is not at all. Moreover, the function keys are obsolete with respect to the current Mac OS (11.5) and are almost worthless. Still it's a good pre-owned value if you're using a ten-year-old Mac. No recommended for any other OS.

I have been using the keyboard for approximately 10 days and it is working fine. I replaced a apple mini keyboard because several of the keys weren't working. Having a full size keyboard is a huge improvement, especially if you learned how to type. I'm very happy with my purchase and I intend to just keep clicking the keys. Thank you.

I use Apple and Mac products exclusively and cannot understand why the A1048 external keyboard is no longer manufactured. It is by far the most convenient and ergonomically conducive keyboard than any made by Apple. Unlike the current full size keyboards, the keys on the A1048 are concave and better suited for typing. The current keyboards are not made for heavy usage or for users whose fingernails are longer than the tip of their fingers evident by the indentions on the sides of the keys. Further, the ink wears away from the newer keys that are used most often within a period of weeks. I've typed on A1048 keyboards for several years before the letters wear from the keys. I have tried every type of keyboard made by Apple each of which are now stored in a closet for "emergency" usage only. As far as I'm concerned, I'll use the A1048 for as long as I can find them. Purchased to replace original equipment on an ancient iMac. Works as advertised, even though interior looks grimy through clear cover and I was concerned it might not work well. I'm super happy to have a working keyboard again for this machine that can't be retired or upgraded for workflow reasons.

Nice old Mac Keyboard, much better than the new wireless designs. The substantial keys make it easier to actually type and the fact that you can just plug it in & go is a plus. There are no fiddly batteries to deal with that always fade in the middle of a project. There is also a convenient USB slot so you don't have to turn the whole computer around every time you want to plug in an extra drive etc. This seems to be a prime example of KISS. The biggest plus is, it works for me.

I gave up on current Mac keyboards as they aren't made to take the kind of abuse and intense use I subject them to. I needed a keyboard that was durable, and also easy to fix if something did break. That's why I came back to this keyboard. I'll admit it, I'm sometimes a slob as my desk is also my dining area since I live in an efficiency. I also have cats. I need a keyboard that can put up with more abuse than usual but still be user-serviceable. This keyboard meets all those requirements. I also grew up learning to type on a typewriter. This keyboard is closer to what I came of age using. It requires a little more force when typing, but the feeling of the keys clicking and the feedback I get will tell me without looking if I missed a keystroke. Best of all, it just plain works with my Mac Pro (2009 but upgraded to Catalina).Read full review

Perfect keyboard for the Old Schoolers like me. Classic feel of the Keyboards of the past, not like those flat ones they make now. The Keys are soft and quiet, I do wish the Home Keys had bigger marks on them to find when typing but it works. The Volume buttons are handy and work well for quick adjustments. The USB cord is a little short and just makes it to my Mac mini but that is my set up, your could be different. I like the two USBs in the back works good for your mouse. Over all I love it. I am glad to have a classic style keyboard that will work with my modern computer. Best of both worlds. It has a pretty modern design with the classic feel. Great Keyboard!

I'm an author. After many years using this style of keyboard with my iMac desktop, it wore out and I tried switching to Apple's wireless keyboard. I found that my fingers had gotten used to the old style keyboard and I made many mistakes trying to use the new design. So I was happy to be able to buy a brand new keyboard of the old design, to which I had become accustomed.
