  • Perfect car camping tent for one or two people.

This is a fantastic tent for road trips for one or two people. This tent is NOT meant for backpacking under usual circumstances--there are better, lighter tents for that purpose. And although it claims to be a 4-person tent, that would require four very good friends. I already have a fantastic car camping tent. The only problem is that it is tedious to set up; this makes it a basecamp tent, useful for stays longer than, say, four nights. But this Eureka tent can be set up in less than 5 minutes. Same for break down, which makes it perfect for quick overnight adventures. It arrives seam sealed on the tub floor and fly, so you don't have to set the new tent up to do that. It is intuitive to set up for those who use this only occasionally. If you had a Timberline of any vintage in your youth, you won't need the instructions. It has an attached vestibule big enough for wet clothes or careful dinner prep on dreary evenings. An optional second vestibule is available for those who need the space (Dog owners, anyone?). The tent (not the fly) has a generous amount of noseeum netting for ventilation on warm evenings. If you are certain there will be no rain, the tent can be set up by itself. The poles appear sturdy, enough for a bit of snow or heavy weather. Speaking of both, there are plenty of D-rings to stake the tent in less than perfect weather conditions. And the 'spreader bar' at the apex of this tent is a huge improvement over the first generation Timberline. In a pinch, this tent needs no stakes to pitch. But you should use ten for a standard setup. The provided stakes are adequate, but I'd suggest a small mallet to drive them in the ground under most campground situations. If you are looking for a tent perfect for road trips that include multiple campgrounds, look no further than here. You can spend less money, but sooner or later you will regret saving money on a cheap tent. This late-model Timberline is almost perfect. You can't go wrong with this tent.
