    Love Rowenta irons! Except...

I have been buying Rowenta irons for years. I have found nothing that compares in feel and performance. The only problem is that I have been buying Rowenta irons for years ... I have seldom had one last more than a year or two before it start leaking water onto your clothes as you iron them. My ironing board sits over carpet but, it seems like if you knock it off onto the floor one time, there's a good chance it will leak from then on. So, what it comes down to is if you can keep from ever dropping it, it is the best iron I know of. I would add that the reason I started buying Rowenta irons was because the other irons I previously had leaked water so, it might just be that all manufacturers have the problem of water leaking from cracks in the tank.

  • Most critical review

    Not what I was expecting

It doesn't seem to emit steam unless I actually keep pushing the burst of steam button. The box the iron came in smelled of cigarettes. I guess the prior owner was a smoker so I discarded the box and then thoroughly cleaned the outside of iron with wipes. I always wanted a Rowenta iron but it is really nothing special, my 15 year old cheap iron works better but the cord was getting brittle.

  • A most excellent iron

This is the best iron I have ever used. I had an older Rowenta that I held onto that worked well. When it fell and was broken beyond repair, I bought the DW580. It is amazing. Some reviewers complain of heavy weight, but it's lighter than my old Rowenta. There are no issues for me with the water running out because of the strong stream output - it doesn't run out so fast, but when it does, just add some more water. Overall this is a most excellent iron, your clothes will attain a new level of smooth. This review is brought to you by a dude who normally reviews things like power tools and computer equipment. So the fact that I took this much trouble to write a review for an iron should tell how impressed I am.

  • Exceptional iron

Years ago a friend who sells sewing machines recommended the Rowenta. At the time I felt it was too expensive. When my iron gave out recently, I decided to go for it, i.e., the Rowenta. My only regret is that I didn't buy it years sooner. There is no comparison between it and less expensive irons. The first thing I ironed was a Ruana (shawl) which usually takes me a good ten minutes to iron, and I had it done in about three minutes . . . what a joy. It's not even a chore to iron with the Rowenta. It's sturdy, has a good head of steam, and gets the creases out miraculously quickly and efficiently. For anyone who has any ironing to do . . . and who values their time . . . I highly recommend the Rowenta.

  • Would never buy another brand iron

I love the shape of the iron - the narrow front part gets into the areas around shirt collars nicely. The iron is no heavier than most quality irons. It heats up in a short time, and one of the best things? It shuts itself off if unattended for 7 minutes in the upright position, or in 30 seconds if it falls on its side or on the flat surface. Love the safety factor. I actually enjoy ironing, and this iron makes it even more enjoyable. I've been telling my friends about it.

  • Rowenta

I am not an ironer and do very little of it. But occasionally need an iron to touch up something out of the dryer. My iron was very old and did not spray very well. So had seen many infos on Rowenta and decided to give it a try. I have only used once, but what a difference. Good spray and smooth plate with many steam holes. Think it will be worth having, even if you do not use often like me.

  • Great Product

I hate that I didn't get a Rowenta years ago. I am particular about how my clothes look and always iron them even so called 'no-iron' clothing. This iron heats up fast, glides smoothly, awesome steam, and handles thicker clothing with ease due to the weight of the iron. It is heavier than most however, that is not a bad thing. I noticed the combination of weight and steam enable me to press my jeans much faster than with other irons I have owned. Overall, I am able to get more clothes ironed in a shorter period of time. You want to make sure you use the correct setting. This iron gets very hot and unlike cheaper irons that you may have to set at a higher setting to get the heat needed, that is not an issue with this iron. I've been ironing my own clothes for 35 years, this is the first iron that I enjoy using.

  • Excellent value. If it had a robotic arm.

Well this is a great iron. If it had that robotic arm it would iron all your clothes for you. It's that easy to use.

  • Rowenta DW5080 Steam Iron

This is a high quality product which is agile and efficient. We have noticed that it's much faster & productive, yet it does not overheat the clothes. Prompt results with less effort and time. I highly recommend this iron and the manufacturer. Would certainly buy again.

  • new iron

As did other reviewers, I compared many brands. While this iron is heavier than my previous one I find that, along with the numerous holes on the sole pate, actually makes ironing easier. Would have to rate it the best iron I have ever used and/or owned.
