Peavey Hollow Body JF-1 Electric Guitar

About this product

Product Information

The Peavey JF-1 hollow-body electric guitar is a rich-sounding piece of equipment from a legendary manufacturer of guitars, sound equipment, and musical gear. This instrument will appeal to both jazz and fusion guitarists with its mellow tones and support for precision fretting. It provides an excellent introduction to the hollow-body for those wanting to own an instrument made in this style. The construction of the JF-1 is impeccable. The body is made from multi-laminate maple and is available in several colors that include red, black, and a beautiful sunburst with a quilt top pattern. The neck is made from maple, and the model has a scale length of 24.75 inches. The fretboard is made of rosewood and sports custom bow-tie inlays. Gold-plated hardware and die-cast machine heads with tulip tuners complete a beautiful design that makes the Peavey JF-1 a work of art. It looks great and sounds even better. The hollow style of body construction is known for a warmth and resonance that is not found in solid-body instruments. One prized aspect of this model is its angled neck. The neck angles slightly to permit easy access to the upper ranges of the fretboard. This is especially useful for jazz players who love to incorporate the highest frets into their solos. The classic playability associated with Peavey instruments is still present, which makes this feature even more attractive. The key to the tonality of these electric guitars are the humbuckers. On this guitar, you'll find dual humbucking pickups that were designed in the USA by Peavey. The humbucker is a pickup that is favored by fusion guitarists because it offers a considerable amount of punch while also being able to provide fat, fluid tones. Two volume controls and two tone controls give the player a nice range of sound options, and the three-way toggle switch pickup selector lets the musician select one, two, or both pickups for a variety of tones. In terms of the guitar's overall tone, the entire register comes across crisp and clean. The bass is rich with a deep, thumping bottom, and the treble notes ring out clean and pure. The sustain is admirable thanks in large measure to the Tune-o-Matic bridge and stop tailpiece. Playing music is a form of artistic expression that benefits from a great-sounding guitar, and this type of guitar has been preferred by improvisational guitarists for many years because it lets their creativity shine. The large frets, smooth fingerboard, and superior pickups combine to offer a guitar that is highly responsive to every bend, slide, and hammer-on. This is a suitable guitar for beginners because it plays well straight out of the box and requires little additional set-up. The quality of this six-string model also makes it suitable for live performances with a small ensemble. Once plugged into an amp, this model will serve you well as it releases sound that will blow you away. Peavey strings are also available for this guitar, but any standard electric guitar strings can be used.

  • Excellent construction and surprisingly light

This is Peavey Guitar's version of a 335..It has ceramic pickups and the finish is impeccable. I have changed the strings to Ernie Ball 10-52's and set the intonation accordingly. I also reduced the bridge to tail stop string angle to approx 13 degrees and set the action as low as is pratical. This allows for easier bending and playing with thicker strings. the individual string pots in the pickups were set to my liking and voila... one cool sounding and amazing looking guitar. The construction is flawless and made from Maple laminate, the neck is Maple too with Rosewood Fretboard. The Tuners are Peavey copies of the same gear used by Gibson and Epiphone, they are tight and smooth. This guitar is very light compared to my Les Paul Custom. The sounds coming from it are mellow from the neck pickup and bright, yet crunchy from the bridge. The only addition I have done is the String change and I also changed out the strap locks for Dunlops. I would reccomend this guitar to anyone wanting a quality instrument at a lower cost.

  • Great guitar if you like fatter necks and jumbo frets.

Excellently made guitar. I bought it thinking I'd like it more than my Jay Turser that looks nearly the same, but I'm going to sell this one and keep my JT. I like slim necks and flatter frets. But plenty of people like the fatter necks and jumbo frets. There was nothing at all wrong with this guitar. I love the gold hardware on red. Absolutely gorgeous guitar. The only reason to have a Gibson is for prestige. These things compete!

  • China made with poor quality control .

I got a lemon, upper frets are sharp and need attention. The fret board action is fair.
