Flea's funk and jazz-influenced basslines helped the Red Hot Chili Peppers climb to the top of the rock and alternative charts while redefining the role of bass in the modern age. To celebrate his ongoing influence, Fender have recreated his prized Shell Pink '61 Jazz Bass that he received from a fan and used to record the Peppers' Stadium Arcadium and The Getaway, along with the supergroup, Atoms For Peace.
Even if you're not a fan of Flea, you'll love this.
This bass has excellent pickups which really gives it a rich and dynamic tone. Gorgeous played in neck, super comfortable, makes you want to keep playing. Electronics are a little noisy on certain settings, but that is authentic to what an early 60s jazz bass would be. Personally I love the faded pink relic job, gives a great vibe, I love the slim vintage frets and the 'worn' fretboard. Overall the bass is great value for money, it's not a custom shop but then it's way less expensive.
