One of the best poets, but...
often too Ireland-centric. Can be obscure to the non-Irish reader, or even (I suspect) to many an Irish reader as well, with so many references to ancient Irish mythological and fairy-tale characters. But at his best, Yeats (who, upon my discovery of his "For Anne Gregory" and "Memory" in high school, became one of my very first favorite Western poets) is very moving with his beautiful rhymes and lines, mostly about love. There are many gems in this Complete Poems volume, both immediately resplendent ones and ones that reveal their beauty in time with repeated readings. And, perhaps the best commendation for Yeats came from the praises and admiration of T. S. Eliot (my favorite poet of all time).Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

A great book!
Beautiful writing for the most part.Some things and themes I don't quite get,but that comes down to cultural differences and since I'm always eager to learn,that's no problem.Plus the woman I love is a major fan of Yeat's work and I wanted to explore that.
