You don't have to be a fan to enjoy this book!
It you'e not a fan of David Essex's music, don't let that put you off enjoying what is a really good read. The descriptive writing flows along very nicely; his school days are particularly enjoyable for the reader, if not for the writer! There's a great deal of humour too; from his brief spell as 'The Canning Town Arsonist' to his holiday romance with an Italian girl and her brother ( not what you think, the brother was a chaperone!), the witty reminiscences make for some laugh out loud moments! Accompanied by some photos from his childhood right up to appearing in Eastenders (I wish I'd known about that!), this autobiography is really interesting and shows a side to David rarely seen in public. I've not finished it yet; I'm taking it slowly so as to enjoy it for longer. If, like myself, you are a fan, then it really is a 'must-read'!Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
