no tilt so should change heading
as about no but that is made clear in the description. the pole cannot be hammered in to the ground as it is a garden umbrella pole and the locking bracket would break being made of light plastic,if however it is a soft back it will work well or slipping it under your seat. if you have a box that has fitting for a umbrella this will also be idea. it will keep you dry in the circumstances but i am a old school fishermen rod and line and where i go there are a lot of hard banks so i have to hope the wind and wain come from behind me. Not perfect but very good for the price
Very good umbrella, my only criticism is that the lower pole section doesn't slide up inside the main upper pole section, so it has to be stored separately. It could also do with being slightly longer because if you're average height or above you can't stand under it with it resting on the floor.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

usefull umbrella
I bought this umbrella a few weeks ago but could not give a review as I had not tried it out in a proper downpour. Today I did. I started fishing at 09:00 and Finished at about 7pm. It rained on and off the whole day, some of it really heavy. The Umbrella kept me Totally dry and was large enough to cover my gear tucked in next to my chair. Pleasantly surprized, as when I first got the umbrella and felt how light it was, I did not think it would be up to the task of handeling a very heavy downpour. How wrong I was. It seems well made and not having a tilting top is also not a problem. Yet another good bye off e-Bay. For the price you can't go wrong. GVerified purchase: YesCondition: New

Misleading !
The width of the umbrella is just too small to get all your fishing gear etc and yourself underneath. Not really suitable for fishing and it does not have a tilt mechanism on the pole as advertise, which is very annoying .
