Total loss of equipment usuage.
When I received this Sony EV-S550 Video player, I immediately, try to play it. There was a tape inside of the unit, intertwined internally. I turned off the unit, & removed the tape. When I attempted to turned it back on, there was no power. I thought i could have it repaired, sent it off to a repair service. I received a diagnostic report, that indicated there was, "WATER DAMAGE AND LEAKING CAPACITORS DAMAGE. REPLACE POWER BOARD (CORRODED) AND LEAKING
CAPACITORS." It would cost $485.00 + shipping cost, with no guarantee, that it would play any & all tapes of the 8mm types.
Also included, was a warranty package, that it would back up the unit, for an additional cost of $19.00.
