Excellent CD alarm clock, minor caveats
Was looking for a SONY CD alarm clock to replace my ~ 1999 era model. SONY doesn't make CD alarm clocks any more, so the search turned to the marketplace. Audio In, CD, good display, good controls were the criteria - this model fit the bill. Overall excellent feature set, build quality. Minor caveats: no battery backup, thankfully the power doesn't go out often volume wheel is in slightly strange location (back left corner) Radio tuner is analog wheel slight delay (4 secs?) before CD starts playingVerified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Sony Dream Machine
I purchased one about 5 years ago -- it worked for about 5 and then the CD player quit working. I wanted to replace it because of ease of use and compare size. No new ones available, but I found a used one in excellent condition on eBay. That worked for about 2 years, then it developed the same problem with the CD player. Great design missing one thing
I like to listen to books on CD when I go to help me get to sleep. It stops me from worrying and helps me get to bed at a reasonable hour. I use earbuds so I don't keep hubby awake. I used to use the portable kind (which I also used while doing housework) but was tired of the way they break so easily. If I drop it out of bed, or out of my pocket (they're too bid to fit easily) it's gone. And then there's the issue of batteries. So, when I needed a new clock radio, I bought one with a CD player. So much for Memorex--it too broke the first time I dropped it (a short distance onto a carpeted floor),it was VERY complicated to use, poor sound quality. Then I tried the Sony Dream Machine. Very Happy! Much easier to use, pretty intuitive in fact. Clear time display with 3 brightness settings. Good sound quality. Seems more sturdily built. It has one big problem: no output jack for my earbuds. It has an input for playing an iPod through the speakers, but I hardly need that. If I was using my I pod, it would be attached to earbuds. Great for a baby boomer like me

Fine product by Sony
I have had other Sony products throughout my life, but this is one of my favorites. After careful reading of the instructions, the product is very dependable! It is easy to use and the ability to have a CD, radio and alarm all in one is one of the best features. I am very sorry it is no longer available and has been discontinued. The best dual CD alarm clock made- too bad they don't make them any more.
It's hard to find an alarm clock that you can set to play a specific track for each of two separate alarms. It's also hard to find one where you can set the volume for the music tracks you wake up to. This clock can do both, and has easy to use controls to turn the alarms off and on, and cancel the alarm. The only drawback I find is the lack of a battery back-up system, in case of a power failure. I've just purchased my third of these- used, since that is the only way they're available now- the last one replacing a new Jensen model that couldn't do any of the things I find valuable about this one.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

GREAT VALUE FOR WHAT IT IS
I can't believe how hard it is these days to find a CD alarm clock! I was looking for something for my child that would help her wake up for school and nothing beats Kidz Bop at 6:30am so I was looking for a reliable, easy to use, practical alarm clock that can withstand the test of time and this unit is it. It's got decent sound, is intuitive to use and has dual alarms. Reception could be better but that depends on the market you live in.
