A good tuner, but...beware!
My ST-8 Snark tuner arrived only today but, of course I had to try it out. I bought it to use with my non-electric Taylor acoustic and, as expected it works well, with a fast and clear coloured display.
However, reading the instructions presented me with a shock: this unit is not to be used with guitar headstocks finished in nitro-cellulose, polyurethane, french polish, or oil finish. Well, that's maybe half the decent guitars in the world with which the Snark should not be used, including most Fender and Gibson guitars. What on earth is Snark playing at! This is the 21st century and Snark cannot locate a suitable plastic/rubber/textile material that will not react with the quoted finishes?. It beggars belief.
I for one do not intend take the chance so I slipped a small piece of white paper between the clamping jaws, whilst I tuned the guitar, then removed the Snark.
BE WARNED!! Sellers probably will not mention this caveat.
