  • Great cleaner... if you can afford it

If you were thinking of getting an Aquavac, or an Eheim Quick Vac, or a kollercraft. But you can't decide because of mixed reviews online. Then you find this and there are none. Well, I've used the kollercraft, and Ive seen the other two going. This is by far the most superior cleaner available. It is NOT lacking in suction, in fact, I found myself using it on the low setting. The filter pads are stupid expensive at $2.50 per pad at best, however, dual density filter fiber is dirt cheap, and if your patient enough for DIY cutting and fitting, it works perfectly. I imagine there's any number of other filter materials you could stuff in the cartridge and have it work. The cord is 12' long so outlet placement should never be a problem. I've completely submerged it in my 60 gallon hex, and used it in my wife's extremely shallow beta tank, phenomenal in both... If you don't have a gravel cleaner and you can afford this one, buy it. If you can't afford it, I'd say get the Kollercraft, it is the best performing battery operated unit. But the Fluval ProVac is definitely the best in it's class or any other.

Tank maintenance is very important with all fish types and especially saltwater. This device is a GOD send when just need to capture surface debris. Easy and fun.

  • A little overprice

Does not do well with lower level water. Scratches really easily if you have sand. But does well for a continuous for. The filter pad to me was trash, iHad some cloudy water and wanted to see if it could help. Left it in for over 2 hours and all it did was move my sand

  • It worth it.

I like the vac it makes the process much quicker. However, what I don't like is the filter is flimsy, it start coming apart at first use, and only one filter is included with the vac. I was under the impression that the vac included 2 filters 1 white and 1 black. All in all it's decent as I stated prior it helps time wise.

  • Very good product

A very good product, possibly the best of its kind. The only real competitor seems to be Eiheim which I previously owned and which was battery operated. While the Fluval product is AC powered, the initial input of 110v is converted to 24v so the electrocution risk is contained. The power pump is excellent and the filter is efficient and easy to access and clean.

  • Great vacuum, but read review first

This is probably one of the best out there! The feel, quality and suction wow!! So what’s the problem: the filter that’s supposed to hold the “crap” is very crappie.... at least 30% or more of what you vacuum goes right thru the media... so use it but be ready to go back again and again after everything settles....

  • Nano tank nano tank

Only useful in a tank large enough to submerge the red filter component. Not good for a nano tank.
