Quartered Safe Out Here: A Recollection of the War in Burma with a New Epilogue: Fifty Years on by Fraser, George MacDonald Pages can have notes/highlighting. Spine may show signs of wear. ~ ThriftBooks: Read More, Spend Less
This is a fascinating account of the war in Burma and the British Army who fought it. The Army was made up of men from all over the British Empire and men from all over England. It was a daunting task to just command such an Army and Fraser gives the commander high praise. Fraser's account, as an enlisted man, is riveting. And at times so amusing as to make one laugh out loud. The writing is superb and the characterization of the men Fraser knew brings them to life as to become one's own friends. The Burma war was horrific and Fraser was in the middle of it. As with all wars, boredom punctuated with terror.
