Works great with all of my new and old DirecTV equipment and TV's
Even though my older HR23-700 DVR isn't IR compatible these RC73B remotes work great with it as well as my newer HR44 Genie receiver. They also control volume perfectly on my Sony TV's. Couldn't ask for more from a lighted remote.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Works OK but definitely get this lighted remote if is to be used in dark room. Poorly designed (some buttons too close to each other) so it is easy to hit the wrong button, can be very aggravating. Great remote in the dark but expensive.
This lighted remote controller is almost identical to the unlighted one. It is laid out with all buttons in exactly the same positions. There is one additional side button that is only on the lighted remote and it turns on the key back-lights for about 10 seconds. (See picture.) You can also turn on the back-lights by pressing any button. I use this in my bedroom at night. All the lights are off and without my glasses, I can't see anything that is not lit. So, if I want to change channels or review the guide or get more information, the back-lighting helps a lot. At least I can see the buttons. I thought the price was a bit steep as I have previously purchased unlighted DirecTV remotes for only $4.00 each. These were $20 each. And, I have also previously purchased new Xfinity lighted remotes (with a lot more features but obviously not for DirecTV) for about $10 each. And there is one feature the Xfinity remote had that the DirecTV remote does not have. To get the back lights to come on for the Xfinity remote, all I had to do was shake it. On the DirecTV I have to press a button. Small issue, sure, but makes the remote a lot easier to use in the dark. Over all, the remote does what it is supposed to and functions just fine with the back lighted buttons feature. I would buy again but just would hope it would be a bit less expensive.

I'm really glad I checked to see if Directv made a remote with a lighted features. I decided to try Ebay where you find a lot of unusual or different items. Always "On" light
I think the design is perfect. The amount of glow is great at night. The shape of the remote fits in most hands comfortably. But, I have one problem: I need at least one button to constantly be lit or at the "on" position. In the dark, I cannot find the remote. It also would help when orientating the remote from top to bottom if one button was lit. Perhaps the on / off button should be on constant glow. Otherwise, it is a wonderful design. I love how you incorporated the side button to turn on the light for the remote. Only one TV was not not Programmable.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

should have be designed by orginal manufacture.
Not impressed with the way the keys are laid out, should have been made by the same manufacturer of original, if you are used to the old one, you might not like this, it has no stop button on it. the light switch should have been on the right side instead of the left. no like the placement of keys. do like the 2 toggle switches for volume and channel changes. this needs a redesign, but it is nice to be backlit.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
