Simple to use, but not so simple to connect to your tripod
I didn't have a chance to test the mount under the sky yet and only tested it indoor. I only bought the mount without a tripod, so I needed to make a connection between the mount and my old camera tripod that I had lying around. I used 1/4-20 stud and 1/4-20 extension nut (home depot) and a spacer (right now I use a bunch of CDs and a cardboard). The mount holds well fairly heavy camera with 500mm lens (5+ pounds total). In the long term, heavy duty construction tripod with a flat top will be a better option. 12V power bank is a must as well. Alignment is fairly easy, I use either 2 stars auto align, or manual 2/3 stars alignment. This mount for less than $70 is a good deal.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Excellent entry-level GoTo mount for astronomy/astrophotography
The NexStar 102GT mount with hand control is a great way to get into inexpensive astronomy. With an upper mount that accepts standard Vixen-style dovetails, this mount will easily carry a large telephoto lens and dSLR for the budding astrophotographer. Replacement set works great
My old Celestron Nexstar 114 GT is fine optically, but the hand controller was dying and wasn't updatable on the web anyway. This used mount and hand controller were compatible with my telescope after I swapped the actual mounting end with my old one (102 attached to the mount differently from 114). Yay!
