Super update to a great electronic tuner!
Not just electronic lights to tune by anymore! This hertz tuner also verifies the tone that the ear hears, as was required before electronic tuners existed. Many used an A440 tuning fork as a base for relative pitch ear tuning in those days, and this new version is wonderful for tuning more than 6 tones on a guitar with correct pitch. Hz feature does not work.
I've been using Snark tuners for a few years, now. When I broke the neck joint on my last one (that joint, by the way, is a weak point on this design) I bought two of the new 'Hz' model. It is supposed to display the exact frequency of the note in addition to the tuning meter. The regular tuning feature worked fine but when I activated the Hz button as directed it just flashed '00.0' for a few seconds. Both tuners did the same thing. I tried a different guitar and tried playing louder. I reread the directions. Nothing helped. So I tried going to their website. My antivirus software went nuts when I tried to visit their site. Apparently the page is loaded with malware. I'd say the new version of this product works about as well as the old one at a higher price. If you try to register the warranty or download the free chord book or complain about the product, etc, you do so at the risk of being infected with malware. Snark, you used to be good! Great Tuner, but HZ Feature Not Very Useful.
This is a highly functional and stable tuner, with a great display layout. I'm able to lock right in on correct tuning by eliminating the blinking red (flat) or yellow (sharp) indicator bars. Fits well on the guitar and bass, and really easy to use. I haven't yet used the pitch change feature, but that will be very useful when playing against a particular organ that's known to be a couple of cents flat. I am NOT, however, very highly impressed with the "HZ" feature. It can only be used to display frequencies for the six guitar notes, EADGBE, and only in that order. I paid a little extra for the HZ feature thinking that it would give me extra precision for general needs, like checking intonation at several different frets on the guitar, or truing up that one bad F string on my son's piano. However, I can't do those things. Just knowing the pitch of my guitar's six strings down to the nearest Hz doesn't help me in any significant way. So, HZ will probably stay turned off pretty much permanently. Looks like I should have gone for the regular Super Tight tuner without the HZ feature. Best clip on tuner I have used.
The best clip on tuner I have seen ! I have a 5 string bass and the one I was using would not see the low B sometimes but could the 12th string harmonic. The Snark has not had a problem with it at all. I have used it on several of my guitars and it worked outstanding on them all. The Snark stays on as long as you sound the note so you can see how close you are getting. My old one did not stay with the note like the Snark. And if you are really OCD like I am, you can use the frequency part to get things exact. I gave my old clip on to my dog to play with. He likes the pretty colors when he whines at it... lol If you haven't tried a Snark, do yourself a favor and try one out. I will speak for itself !Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

I have several different Snark tuners. This one is the best of them with more features and great accuracy.

Great little tuner

Not really useful for the bass guitar
I don't think it is useful to buy the extra Hz feature as part of the snark for the bass guitar. All the other features seem to work well, but I have problems reading a hertz value on the 2 lower strings on the bass. The snark also provides only the fundamental frequency even when you play the harmonic note or the note on the 12th fret, which doesn't make sense to me. Overall it works well, but I wouldn't spend the money next time to pay for the hertz reading on the display. Maybe it works better for general guitars.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
