This unit is so easy to use and well designed. Once setup u can control it from anywhere and any computer or mobile device with internet access. I now have 3 in the house. One in each bedroom and one on the bottom of stairs. A component in perfumes and sprays do give me migraine so the wife always used perfumes only in the bathroom with door shut and extraction fan on. I was away on a trip to London. The wife decided to use spray in bedroom. Immediately after the first puff the fire alarm went off. I got alert in London. The voice alert hit the wife like bolt and the Nest lights lighting the path for her to see the door. She stopped using the spray and shortly after opening the windows the alert stopped and notified me the threat has cleared. Purchased to extend cover from our existing single nest alarm into our loft space. Couple of issues/limitations with this 1. Voice descriptive alerts are limited. Unfortunately ‘loft’ or ‘attic’ is not one of the standard voice alert areas so I had to choose the closest to this ‘upstairs’ which is not ideal... 2. When installing in a loft (a wired rather than battery interlinked alarm is required due to building regs) the power lead fits through the back of the alarm which makes installing the bracket tricky onto a rafter. The bracket is plastic and would have been better in metal, though has to be said that the included screws are at least of good quality and also includes some wago style connectors though you will need a choc box to tidy these out of sight. 3. With the wired alarms theres also a built in battery with enough charge for setting up the device initially before wiring it in. This isnt made absolutely clear from the included instructions. For some reason nest devices never setup fully correctly on first try but setup correctly on a second attempt. 4. Good Luck, these are great once installed!Read full review

Brought this to replace an existing one that had run out of date, thought it'd be a quick plug and play, no. The bracket holding the Nest had been redesigned as so too the electrical connector. The new bracket needed holes in ceiling on a smaller pcs which was very close to the edge of the dry lining back box saw rawplugs wouldn't hold. Had to make a wooden surrounding for the electrical box so screws through the ceiling had something to bite into. Compared to the time spent fixing the bracket the electrical connection was a simple affair but still vexed me.

Very good product, nice design. One problem is that it assumes the power supply wires are concealed (in ceiling or wall). Ours are surface mounted so needed a work-around. Second problem is that you can not share control across multiple mobile phones. I would still recommend though
