OK but certain "features" make it not so great
I was disappointed in several features of this radio. 1) It is cumbersome to set up all the various individual alarms that you might want it to warn you about ("SAME" feature). 2) The speaker volume can only be minimized to a fairly high level. That is, you can't set it for lower volumes, as the minimum volume with the +/- buttons is what I would call 'half the volume' of the maximum volume. I was thinking about adding a resistor to the speaker to modify this range. 3) In order to get any reception, you are required to fully extend the antenna, at least in my service area. As a weather radio, it works fine. But the loud alarms etc. are an annoyance.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

It was great for a few weeks..
I bought this in April 2018 and had it for eight weeks, throughout the time, I didn't make any changes to it. I just set it up to the things I wanted, but then eight weeks later; it stopped working. It still turned on and all, but the weather radio itself didn't work. I pressed the "Weather/Snooze" button and it did absolutely nothing, even though it made the beeping sound. If you're trying to find a weather radio for cheap, you may want to think about it. I'm not trying to be rude, but I am being honest. What are you expecting? The best part of this weather radio is that it has SAME. What this does is keeps the radio quite unless there is a watch or warning in your immediate area! Great Value but TAKE THE BATTERIES OUT!
Great value for the price but the unit had 6 AA batteries in it that were corroded so acid leaked onto the case and I had to clean out the battery compartment. But it works fine and for $16 was still worth it.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

I liked this weather radio so much I bought second one for my mom. A little confusing to program but once it's set, you can forget it's there till it warns you of bad weather. Very loud. Gets your attention. When power goes out, batteries take over and will last a day or two. Too bad Radio Shack is gone now. There are still plenty of these available. Excellent!
I've already had one of these for a few years. They are well-made, sensitive and do their job admirably. I decided to purchase two more; one for a spare and one for my summer place.
