Yet another new Hornby release with quality control issues , hot on the heels of the Thane of fife A2/2 fiasco. This too was missing detail parts and others parts fallen off loose in the packaging . If i wanted a kit i would buy an Airfix model ;well maybe not ,Hornby own them too.
The whole paint colour ,i will leave to others to debate ; i just want to received a model which costs between £160-190 depending on whom is selling them to be value for money. This does not fit within this bracket. It wasn't as bad as my Thane of Fife ,which was just awful; this one is just not good enough
Thats two strikes for me Hornby not forgetting the previous issues with a long list of models over the years. One more and that's it, however good the reviews you get i wont buy again if my next purchase is as these last two have been
The replacement model was generally excellent though the first model suffered from poor quality control.
The replacement model was excellent in build generally and quality of motor, packaging etc. The first model had to be returned due to poor quality control and final packing with the body not being properly attached to the chassis, a loose part left in the packaging, and the speedometer cable being detached and hanging loose. It was clearly packaged at Hornby in that condition. That said , the second model was in superb condition and properly packaged and is fine in all aspects of its running performance.
It arrived with parts missing and others broken and had clearly been boxed in that state at the factory as the missing parts were not lose inside. I have to wonder whether Hornby, in their quest for accuracy are in danger of going beyond the practical limit of delicacy in recent models.
