With the dramatic rise in household fuel bills the better control one had over your heating the better. I had a new boiler fitted in December. That made a difference in the gas burnt to hear my home but although it was a lower amount I thought there has to be a better system. My original system was 13 radiators in 11 rooms and a wall thermostat mounted in the hall. All but one radiator had thermostatic rad valves. So I investigated systems and decided on TADO. I bought a starter kit with the wireless wall thermostat, internet bridge and the wireless receiver. I purchased 8 rad valves to begin with. I fitted the system myself, not difficult, but then I was an electronics engineer before I retired. The system works by pairing the thermostat and rad valves to the wireless receiver via the internet bridge. The wireless receiver switches the boiler on. The thermostat and rad valves each have there own smart schedules so you can program them to come ON as and when you want individually not en-mass. The result is that my house is heated to my needs and my gas consumption has decreased. I bought 4 more valves so 12 rads now has one. There is a TADO app which works on phone and laptop etc. This gives you the finger tip control. When you leave home your phone asks if you'd like to switch the heating OFF, so you don't hear an empty home. When you come home you turn it on again.
