  • Useful to help balance a neck-heavy guitar

My guitar suffered from neck dive when supported on a strap, this was almost cured by swapping to acrylic tuner buttons but wasn't perfect. The front strap button could not be moved due to the shape of the instrument (SG style) so the only one that could be moved was the bottom one. I experimented and found that the guitar would balance correctly if the strap was 2 inches toward the neck and higher up on the body. I didn't want a conventional button to protrude at the rear of the guitar so I used this flush mount fitting. I left the original button in place and all is good now. I rated the item as good value as it fixed the problem very well but in my view they are a little expensive for what they are. Just to clarify, I fixed this to the rear of the guitar, not the edge. Fitting requires careful and precise drilling with a sharp wood bit to avoid flaking the paint. If you have any doubts on your capabilities, get a professional luthier to fit it. Acquiring a 3/8" wood bit is not easy in the UK. I used a 9mm bit and enlarged the hole using a Dremel attachment, not the best way but it worked for me.
